When considering existential risks, we can often be overwhelmed by feelings of dread and hopelessness. Optimism is a drop in the deep, dark well of sorrow. House of Ash extrapolates that feeling in a similar way to the novel, House of Leaves. In the book, the character Will Navidson explores a house whose inner size and darkness expands in proportion to Will's own. House of Ash paints an inner landscape of our character's struggle to see how people cling so deeply to their darling inventions. And also in their struggle to find meaning in meaninglessness.
